How we compare
Choosing a receptionist service is mostly about three things: what happens when a caller rings, what it really costs at your call volume, and whether it connects to the tools you already use. Our comparisons focus on those.
Where the facts come from
- Prices, plans, trials and features come from each vendor's own website and public documentation. Every page shows the date we checked them, and every price links back to the source.
- Practical notes come from running a live AI phone receptionist in our own trade business. These are marked clearly and kept separate from vendor facts.
- We do not use anonymous review scores or invent ratings. If something could not be verified, the table says "not verified".
What we look at
- Who answers: an AI voice agent, a live human, or a mix (AI first with a human fallback).
- Real cost: the starting plan, what it includes (minutes, calls or receptionists' time), and what happens when you go over.
- What it can do on a call: take messages, book appointments, qualify leads, transfer calls, answer in Spanish or other languages, take payments.
- Hours: 24/7, business hours only, or after-hours cover.
- Integrations: calendars, CRMs and industry tools (for example practice management for law firms, or field service software for trades).
- Contract and trial: free trial, monthly or annual, set-up fees, cancellation terms.
How we pick "best for"
We do not rank services by a single score. Each recommendation says which kind of business it suits and why, based on the features and pricing above. A cheap AI plan can be the right answer for a solo plumber and the wrong answer for a law firm that needs human intake.
Affiliate links do not change the order
We may earn a commission from some vendors. Vendors without an affiliate programme are included on the same terms as those with one. See the affiliate disclosure.
Keeping it current
AI receptionist pricing changes often. We re-check the main comparison pages at least every three months and update the date at the top. If you spot something out of date, tell us via the About page.
